Dave called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
Amy Fessenden asked if there was answer to her question on how stipends are tracked. Rich Pike said that they are going to check with the new Business Administrator but they will handle in a similar manner in all districts. The new Business Administrator will start on September 10, 2007.
Angela O’Connor asked why the speech pathologist not replaced with a speech pathologist. Rich Pike will check with Bob Kelley look to be sure that Brittany Brown has the right qualifications.
Angela O’Connor commented that Sandra Reid is not set up with DOE as a certified reading specialist. Rich Pike will look into this matter with the DOE.
A motion was made by Marsha Farwell to accept the minutes, as amended, of the public hearing of August 17, 2007. Beth Lukovits seconded the motion. The motion carried by a unanimous vote of 4 yes, 0 no.
Dave Partridge asked if the principals have met with Light Tech yet. Lorraine Wenger said that they have the paperwork from Mellinee and they will set up the meeting with Light Tech.
All repairs are moving forward.
The magnetic doors are to be started at CSDA this week. The magnetic doors at RMMS are finished.
NWEA testing will start at the schools for grades 3-6 on Tuesday, September 4th.
The open house at RMMS and CSDA will be on September 5th & 6th.
Water test results have been submitted but the school has not received any results.
Al Orde inquired about an EPA grant which will allow the busing company to retro fit the busses for bio-diesel fuel. Al Orde and the SAU office are currently working on this grant. The application has passed the first stage and we are the only district in the state that has applied for this grant.
Charter Communications will finish the fiber-optic work at the schools on August 24th. Primex’s review of the contract with Charter delayed the fiber optic work.
All maintenance items are proceeding as planned.
Dave Partridge asked about using environmental friendly/kid friendly cleaners at our schools. New York and California have made list of environmentally friendly cleaners and he would like someone to look into this.
Rich Pike recommends Kim Barron as the .6 Physical Education teacher at RMMS. She would start as a B, Step 5 @.6 at a salary of $22,506.
Beth Lukovits made a motion to accept Kim Barron as a .6 physical education teacher at RMMS. Cindy Ryherd seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote 4 yes, 0 no.
Barrett Christina has promised look into board appointments and predator policy. Rich Pike also asked him to look at a volunteer policy.
Rich Pike will circulate IMAH policy to staff and will take it up at the September Board meeting.
Rich Pike noted that when policies go through the first and second readings, they need to be properly noted on the posted agenda.
Marsha Farwell will look to see which policies are required and bring those policies up first. Marsha will work with Doris to get an updated listing of policies.
The September meeting will be on the 25th at 6:30 pm instead of 6:00 pm.
A motion was made to go into non public under RSA 91-A: 3II (a) reputation by Marsha Farwell. The motion was seconded by Cindy Ryherd. The motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
